Timber Creek Addition

Truckee, CA

OVERVIEW

Constructed beneath an existing mountainside home, this new lower-level addition transforms what was once an empty, earth-bermed volume into a light-filled living space. With only one fully exposed facade, the plan is carefully organized to draw natural light into the interior, creating a sense of openness within a constrained footprint.

The design embraces a modern mountain aesthetic—clean and composed, yet grounded in warmth and material texture. Structural and spatial interventions were calibrated to connect seamlessly with the level above, preserving the existing home’s layout while establishing a distinct architectural identity below.

Tucked into the slope, the new space quietly extends the home’s presence on the site—rooted, restrained, and responsive to its alpine setting.
